Causes Of Snoring

It’s thought that between 30-50% of the population snores, so what causes snoring? Snoring can be a super irritating condition, all you want to do is stop snoring!

To put it simply, the cause of smoking is blocked airways. So we need to look at the various reasons for the airways being blocked. Snoring can be caused by the way your mouth is shaped and by the shape of your tonsils and adenoids. If you sleep on your back, your tongue is likely to slip backwards into your throat and so you have your blockage.

Another major cause of snoring is overweight. Your body condition may be a source for snoring too, the build up of fat around your neck makes it heavy, so it weighs down on throat when you sleep, restricting the air flow in your throat. But you konw some thin people can also have snoring.

Alcohol can also contribute to snoring, because it is a relaxant, and relaxed muscles will cause the tongue falling back again. When the throat muscles and tongue are super relaxed, they can block off the airway and cause snoring.

Sinuses – when a sufferer is experiencing seasonal allergies, the sinuses may be blocked by mucus or swollen because of irritants. So it also a cause of snoring.

If you have inherited a narrow throat, or a deformed nose, you may also have snoring problem.

A dry throat also cause to snoring, dry throat can cause the vibration to bring on snoring.

Lifestyle and health factors are also contribute to snoring:

- Allergies can cause clogs in the air paths.
- Cold and flu can cause you sick, so you may get snoring.
- Abnormally large belly or guts.
- Overuse of nasal sprays can cause irritation of the air passages
- Abnormal enlargement of the tonsils or the adenoids.
- Blockage of the airflow due to large tongue.
- Medications that can initiate relaxation.
- Inefficient neural control on the nasal membranes.

There are many causes for snoring, but these mentioned above are just some the most basic causes for snoring in most individuals. Do not drink alcohol or take a sleeping pill or muscle relaxant medication right before bedtime. Use a decongestant to clear the nose, or allergy drug to treat seasonal allergies.
